Kajod can increase her income

81-100_6943-Kajod
Dear Jeff,

Kajod, like many other women in her tiny village of Thali Ki Daniin, helps her family to earn extra money by milking buffaloes. The village, which is located in Jaipur, the capital of the Indian state of Rajasthan, does not have electricity or any other basic facilities. Kajod’s husband works in the nearby village as a labourer on daily wages. His income is not sufficient to run the entire household. They own a couple of buffaloes and sell the milk to add to the family income. Thanks to your generous donation of a solar lantern, Jeff, Kajod can get up earlier in the morning to milk the buffaloes. She now has ample time to cook food for the family and can spend some quality time with her two sons.

Thank you, Jeff, for your kindness!

Bholu Ram can now study after dark!

52-100_6914 - Bholu Ram
Dear Mike,

Thank you for gifting a solar lantern to Bholu Ram’s family.

Bholu Ram is a bright 12 year old boy  living with his parents and sister in the village of Thali Ki Dani, near Jaipur, Rajastan. The village lacks even basic amenities like a dispensary, school, market, etc. Though the village is electrified, they get electricity for only a few hours every day, and rarely in the evening and night. This makes it very difficult for children to study after dark.

Bholu Ram travels 5 kms to the nearby village where there is a Government aided school. With your generous donation, Bholu Ram can now read after dark more easily than by candle or lamp light. His school work will definitely improve, and his eyes and his health will be safeguraded because the solar lantern is odorless and fume-less.

DSCN0647-Rajesh Kanwar1
Dear Ashleigh,

Thank you for your wonderful gift of a solar lantern to Rajesh Kanwar and her family.

Electricity has not yet reached the village where Rajesh Kanwar stays, and the only light that her family knows is the light from kerosene lamps. Despite spending nearly 15% of the family income on buying kerosene for the lamps, the family has been forced to spend most of the night and evening in the dark.

Thanks to your donation of a  solar lantern, Rajesh can think about taking up her long cherished dream of starting a sewing business to make blouses and skirts. Now that she has an inexpensive source of light, she hopes to spend the time after sunset in completing her sewing jobs, thereby increasing the family income.

Thank you for lighting up Rajesh Kanwar’s life.

Dear Chris and Emily,

Thank you for donating a solar lantern to Anandilal.

Anandilal lives with his family in a tiny village called Dadanpura in the northern state of Rajasthan in India. It’s one of the many Indian villages without electricity. His major worry was the herds of Nilgai or blue bulls which used to attack his fields at night and cause widespread damage to his crops. The vegetables grown in these fields are his only source of income, and he could ill afford to have his crops destroyed repeatedly.

With the wonderful gift of a Solar Lantern Anandilal is able to keep a watch on his fields during nights and the light keeps the Nilgai away from the fields.
