Solar lantern brings joy to Rajender’s family

Rajender-Rajanti-P1030137
Dear Sculpt the Future,

Rajender and his wife Rajvanti are thrilled to have a solar lantern in their home. They have 5 children: Naresh (age 15), Amit (age 12), Rinki (age 9), Kareena (age 5) and Roshini (age 2). Rajender is the only earning member of his family — he works as a laborer for daily wages in the nearby village. Like all the 11 houses in the tiny hamlet of Kanjra Ki Dhani, located in the Indian state of Rajasthan, Rajender and Rajvanti did not have electricity. With the generous donation of a solar lantern from Sculpt the Future Foundation, Rajender’s children can study at night, his wife can cook food late in the evenings, and he can charge his mobile phone for free, whereas earlier he had to spend five rupees each time he recharged his mobile.

Thank you for your generous contribution. Rajendar and his family are grateful for your kindness!

Solar Lantern helps Dinesh to milk his goats early in morning!

Dinesh-ManjeshP1030134
Dear Jenkin, Yasunori, and Anil,

Thank you for coming together to gift a solar lantern to Dinesh.

Dinesh who is only 18 years old is already married and has a 6 month old child. Early marriage is still prevalent in many villages in India and Kanjra Ki Dhani a small hamlet of 11 households is no exception. He works as a labourer on daily wages and normally finds work only for 10-15 days a month. To supplement his income, he milks goats and sells the milk locally. With the generous gift of a solar lantern Dinesh can milk the goats early in the morning. Further, the village is surrounded by forest, and now that he has a lantern, Dinesh doesn’t have to worry about his small child being attached by animals or insects.

Thank you for making a difference in his life.

Solar Lantern helps to keep the bugs and snakes at bay

Indra-Babulal-P1030104
Dear Steven,

Thank you for gifting a solar lantern to Indira and Babulal.

Indira lives with her husband, Babulal, and their five children, Ramduli, Sarjeet, Sajitha, Deepa, Manjeet and Anjeet in Kanjra Ki Dhani a small hamlet near the village of Chaku with is around 55 kms from the city of Jaipur in Rajasthan. Her husband is the only earning member in the family and he works as a labourer in the nearby village.

There are many snakes in the village where they live, which often eat hens. Before they got the solar lantern, they used to be worried about being bitten by bugs or snakes. Since they didn’t have electricity in the village, they also needed to go to the nearest village and spend Rs. 5 everytime they wanted to charge their mobile phones- now this can be done using the solar lantern.

Thank you for transforming their life.

Dear Prachi,

Thank you for gifting a solar lantern to Laxman.

Laxman’s world has changed after the generous gift of a solar lantern from you. He is delighted to have light in his home for the first time. He lives with his family in Thali Ki Dhani, a small hamlet in the outskirts of Jaipur in Rajasthan, India. Like many of the remote villages Thali Ki Dhani is also devoid of basic amenities, namely electricity, education and drinkable water. His children used to study under the light of kerosene lamp and travel several kilometres to attend school. He is glad that the children can study under the solar lantern which is odorless and fumeless and gives out bright light.

Thank you for making a difference to his life.

Dear Julie, Subhash, Michael, and Surnish,

Thank you for coming together to gift a solar lantern to Kajod Kumar.

Kajod Kumar married young and lives with her husband in Thali Ki Dhani in Jaipur, Rajasthan. It’s one of the many Indian villages without electricity. When night falls kerosene lamps come on in the village. They have never seen electricity and were delighted to receive the gift of a solar lantern thanks your generosity and the efforts of TRF.

Before getting a solar lantern, they had to spend over Rs. 150 on buying oil for their kerosene lamps, and had to travel to the nearby village to charge their mobile phone. Now they can save this amount with the help of the lantern. Also now that they have a reliable source of light, they can feed the buffalo before day break which has resulted in getting more milk.

Thank you for making such a difference to their lives.

Dear Lisa,

107-100_6969-Moti
Dear Lisa,

Moti lives with her husband and children OmPrakash and Sia Ram in a small village called Thali Ki Dani near the city of Jaipur in Rajasthan, India. The village does not have any basic facilities like electricity, schools, markets, or health centers.

The solar lantern you donated, Lisa, has come as a boon to Moti as earlier carrying on any sort of work was practically impossible after dark. She can now work an additional three hours after completing the household chores and supplement the income of the household. Beforehand,  Moti’s family was using Kerosene lamps, which are neither cost-effective nor environmentally friendly. The fumes of the kerosene lamps used to affect their eyes and lungs. Thank you Lisa for your wonderful gift!
